Teacher’s House Renovation

Renovation of teacher houses at Atsj village (kitchen and toilet).

It was completed on 20 December 2024. As the impact of renovation of teachers' houses, teachers becoming more comfortable living and teaching in the villages so that children's education will be sustainable.

5th Starlink Installation

YPPK Elementary School in Amanamkai village already uses Starlink.

This is the 5th starlink that will be installed in YPPK schools in Asmat.

4th Starlink Installation

Since 2 weeks ago, the Starlink internet network has been functioning in Kapi village at SD YPPK Kapi.
This is the 4th Starlink installed by Ragats in the remote villages of Asmat Regency.

2nd Starlink Installation

YPPK Warse Elementary School in Warse village has a working Starlink internet network.

This is Ragats' second installation of a Starlink in the Asmat Regency's interior villages.

September 5 2024 | Kapi Village

Santo Malaikat Gabriel Church

The planting of the foundation piles for the construction of the Santo Malaikat Gabriel Church in Kapi Village, Asmat-Papua has begun.

The liturgy of the word for the installation of the pillars, which included the blessing and sprinkling of holy water on the pillars and the construction area, was led by Father Yanto Pr.

The work of planting the pillars will continue on September 6, 2024.

September 4 2024 | Yamas Village

Teacher Houses Rehabilitation

The rehabilitation of 2 type 36 teacher houses in Yamas village has been completed. The rehabilitation of 1 type 72 house will continue next week because the worker is unavailable this week.

Starting from September 6, 2024, it will be occupied by Mr. Ambo and Mr. Jhon.

July 25 2024 | Agats

New Water Storage

2 water storage locations each at Theresia dormitory and Depores dormitory, in Agats city have been completed. This water reservoir was a donation from the family of Mrs. Suzanna Rachmat Alex and the family of Henny Djohan.

Thus, as of July 25 2024, 8 water reservoirs have been created.

JULY 2024 | Bayun Village

Teacher’s House Building Progress

Having proper teacher housing in the villages in the Asmat interior is very important so that teachers feel at home living and teaching in the village. So far, many teachers do not feel comfortable living in villages because their housing is inadequate/ unsuitable. The absence of teachers means that Asmat children's education is lagging behind.

Ragats has rehabilitated the rooms and built a new kitchen and dining room for the teacher's house in Bayun village, which is located 3 hours from Agats city by speed boat.

Rehabilitation and construction has been completed in July 2024.

May 12 2024 | Yepem & Yaosakor Village

VSAT Installation

VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) was completed in Yepem and Yaosakor villages (photo is installation in Yaosakor village). In Bayun village, VSAT was installed on May 17 2024. With the VSAT network, children in the villages of Yaosakor and Bayun, and Yepem will be able to join Ragats online classes with a good network.

April 06 2024 | Erma Sono Village

Rainwater Storage Tanks

3 rainwater harvesting points have been completed for community use in Erma Sono village. As of April 6, 2024 Ragats has built 6 rainwater reservoirs. 3 in Aou village and 3 in Erma Sono village.

March 24 2024 | Per Village

Solar Lamp In Per Village

1 family in Per village who just turned on the solar lights from RAGATS at 6:15 pm tonight. The light is very bright.

Rectory Construction

Construction of the rectory in Yaosakor village began today. Yaosakor Village is located 2.5 hours from Agats city.

This rectory will be a halfway house for priests who from Agats city will go to other parishes in the interior that are further away or when returning from the interior to Agats. Often their journey is constrained by weather and water conditions in the sea/river.

The building is completed on 16 May 2024.

March 2024 | Aou Village

Rainwater Storage Construction

Construction of 3 rainwater harvesting sites (30 blongs/water tanks @ 1,100 liters) in Aou village. Work on site was carried out for 2 weeks. The challenge was to bring the goods to the village because it was 3 hours by sea and river by fiber boat.

Previously, Aou village only had 1 water reservoir (10 blong/toren) which could only fulfill less than 20% of the villagers' needs for drinking and cooking when there was no rain.

With the addition of 30 water storage tanks, 75% of the residents' needs for cooking and drinking are met when rainfall is not high.

During times of high rainfall, residents' water needs are met 100%.

Based on data, rainfall in Asmat Regency is 3,000-5,000 milliliters with 200 days of rain a year.

March 11 2024 | Per, Uwus, Yepem, Ewer, and Bayun Village

Solar Lamp Distribution

140 solar lamps have been distributed to 6 villages: Per, Uwus, Yepem, Ewer, Bayun, Yaosakor.

This is a photo of the handover of solar lamps to Per residents in a deliberation at the traditional house (Jew), divided equally per neighborhood that is in dire need.

Solar lights are installed in the community's rooms and stalls so that they can sell at night.

November 14 2023 | Uwus Village

St. Klaudius Uwus Catholic Church

Carrying out the first pole planting ceremony for the construction of St. Klaudius Uwus Catholic Church. The pole planting was held during the daily Mass led by Father Robert Hia OSC and Father Ferdinand OSC in the morning. The ground breaking Ceremony was attended by around 700 people consisting of children, young people, and the elderly. The people were very excited to welcome the new church. On Tuesday night they danced to the tifa for one night in the churchyard. Thank you to the Ambiente and Ragats communities for their attention to us, the people of St. Klaudius Uwus. May God always bless our donors.

MAY 2022 | PER VILLAGE

Church Building

Built a church (in cooperation with PD Ambiente), Maria Bintang Laut, at Per village (September 2021 – Mei 2022). The church is decorated with Asmat carving.

As of May 2024, we have build 5 churches (Per, Yepem, Kairin, Yaosakor, and Uwus villages).

VSAT Installation

Successfully installed VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) and solar panels at Uwus, Per and Ewer. The villages finally have network to be used for communication and online learning purposes.

New Multipurpose Building

Multipurpose building which has been successfully built in Uwus Village. Hopefully it will be useful for the people there.

Bell Tower

Working together to build a bell tower in Uwus. Ragats has built 4 bell towers: at Uwus, Per, Ewer, Yepem villages.

Handover of Solar Lamps

The handover of solar lamps to several Heads of Families in Per. They were extremely happy.

From October 2018 - December 2020, Ragats has distributed 315 Dlight solar lamps to the houses in Uwus, Bou, Per, Yepem, Ewer, Ats, and Yaosakor villages.
